About the Lürssen Foundation
The Lürssen Foundation was established to have a positive impact on education, innovation and society, driving responsible change in the maritime industry and for those in its wider community.
As one of the ways to achieve this goal, it offers a funded scholarship programme that provides the next generation of engineers with access to research, industry mentorship, and the skills needed to drive responsible progress in the maritime industry.
Over six months, scholars gain hands-on experience and work on cutting-edge research projects under expert guidance. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact, develop valuable skills, and take ideas to the next level.
The 2026 scholarship programme will run from 20 April to 7 October.

What to expect
This is a six-month funded scholarship programme through The Lürssen Foundation for students dedicated to developing innovative ideas for societal and environmental solutions in the maritime industry. We invite university scholars to join us from 20 April to 7 October, to research and drive responsible, forward-thinking approaches on "Driving maritime innovation through green transition, advanced propulsion systems, and/or artificial intelligence”.
This unique programme offers hands-on experiences, expert mentorship, and opportunities to work on cutting-edge research projects. It is a chance to make a real impact, develop skills, and bring ideas to life. Throughout the six months, scholars will have numerous opportunities to travel to Germany and Croatia to build a network, experience on-site expertise, and participate in a summer school hosted by the University of Connecticut in theUnited States.

What you need
- To be enrolled at a university or a university of applied sciences
- A student of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
- Have at least a B2 level of English
