PhD-Position (m/w/d) im Forschungsprojekt Mi-VascAD
Start in our team
Are you interested in investigating the mechanisms of vascular damage in autoimmune diseases using innovative methods and obtaining your doctorate in this field? Support our research team as part of the interdisciplinary MI-VascAD project "New Methods to Investigate the Vasculature in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases" at the earliest possible date for a three-year fixed term.
Based at the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology (Project leader: Dr. Anja Stähle), the project is part of the University‘s interdisciplinary research focus, with close links to radiology, medical technology, and pharmacology. It focuses on innovative imaging and in vitro methods to investigate the vascular effects of autoantibodies, especially in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases. Specifically, you will contribute to the development of antibody-conjugated magnetic particles and their application in magnetic particle imaging (MPI) and cell-based models.
What we offer:
- Classification in pay grade E13 TV-L, if the requirements of the collective agreement are met
- Part-time employment, currently 25 hours per week
- The opportunity to participate in structured graduation programs on campus
- Work in a motivated research team with a positive work atmosphere
- Further benefits offered by UKSH can be found here: Benefits (uksh.de)
What you can expect:
- Close supervision and interdisciplinary exchange within the MI-VascAD network (clinical and basic research).
- Establishment and optimization of autoantibody-magnetic particle conjugates
- Validation of functionality and binding properties by means of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and microscale thermophoresis (MST)
- Analysis of the effects on cell activation, stress markers, permeability, and cell morphology in 2D and 3D cell models
- Close collaboration with subprojects on magnetic particle imaging (MPI) and in vivo models
- Preparation of publications, project reports, and presentations, as well as active participation in international conferences, retreats, and workshops
What you contribute:
- Successfully completed a university degree (M.Sc.) in molecular biology, biochemistry, medical technology, biophysics, or a related field
- Experience working with nanoparticles or magnetic particles, 2D and 3D cell cultures, and/or imaging or molecular biology methods is ideal.
- Interest in interdisciplinary research in immunology and imaging
- Ability to work in a team is required, as well as a structured and independent way of working.
