At Drees & Sommer, we are seeking a Senior Project Director with extensive experience in managing complex industrial projects under EPC/EPCM delivery models, capable of leading large‑scale teams, standardizing methodologies, and strengthening organizational development at both national and international levels.

The selected candidate will be responsible for directing major CAPEX projects — exceeding €200 million — or coordinating multiple simultaneous projects of more than €50 million each, ensuring technical excellence, contractual compliance, and alignment with global EPCM.I standards.

This is a strategic role focused on leadership, team structuring, and the consolidation of EPCM capabilities in Spain.

Responsibilities

• Lead highly complex industrial projects (CAPEX > €200M) or simultaneously manage several projects of more than €50M each.
• Define organizational structures, internal processes, and standards aligned with EPC/EPCM models and EPCM.I guidelines.
• Lead and develop teams of more than 10 people, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance monitoring.
• Coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders: client, engineering, construction, supply chain, and strategic partners.
• Ensure compliance with international standards, project governance, procurement processes, and industrial execution methodologies.
• Work in international environments, aligning procedures and methodologies with global teams.
• Serve as the main interface with senior‑level clients, leading negotiations, technical workshops, and steering committees.
• Drive organizational development, contributing to the creation or consolidation of business units and project cells.
• Promote technical excellence and the use of BIM methodologies, ISO best practices, and EPC/EPCM/FIDIC/NEC contractual frameworks.

1. Academic Background

• University degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering, Architectural Technology, or similar fields.
• Master’s degrees or advanced certifications in project management (PMP, IPMA, Lean, etc.) will be valued.

2. Professional Experience

• Minimum 15 years of experience in managing complex industrial projects, preferably under EPC/EPCM delivery models.
• Proven experience of at least 5 years leading teams of more than 10 people and establishing processes, standards, and organizational structures.
• Ability to independently manage projects exceeding €200M or supervise multiple projects > €50M each.
• Strong experience in planning, supervision, and coordination with clients, engineering, construction, and suppliers, aligned with PM/GIC responsibilities.

3. International Experience & Organizational Development

• Professional track record in international industrial projects.
• Ability to establish, scale, and coordinate global multidisciplinary teams, integrating procedures and harmonizing EPCM.I methodologies.
• Experience in creating, leading, and consolidating business units, project cells, or regional teams.

4. Language Skills

• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
• German is highly valued.

5. Technical Knowledge

• Strong command of international construction standards, ISO norms, project management best practices, and EPC/EPCM/FIDIC/NEC contract frameworks.
• Deep understanding of organizational structures, project governance, strategic procurement, and industrial execution processes for large‑CAPEX projects.
• Experience with BIM methodologies applied to industrial projects is an advantage.
