We are seeking a talented intern to support our Cellular Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to research in signal processing and communication systems using both classical and data-driven approaches, with exposure to 6G concepts and emerging technologies. You will develop signal processing and machine learning algorithms, run comprehensive simulations, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of experts. Depending on your focus area, you may engage in link-level simulations, system-level evaluations, ML model development, data analytics, simulator component development, and algorithm optimization.
Description
In this position, you will work together with experienced engineers to advance cellular communication technologies. You will gain hands-on experience with:
Signal Processing & Algorithm Development: Develop algorithms for detection and estimation within communication systems
Data Analytics & Machine Learning: Explore data-driven approaches through cellular data analytics and ML model architecture studies
Simulation & Performance Evaluation: Design and execute simulations to evaluate algorithm performance across various system scenarios
System Architecture: Contribute to the design of physical layer and protocol stack implementations, integrating signal processing and ML-based solutions
6G Technologies: Explore next-generation cellular concepts and participate in forward-looking research initiatives
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Engage with a multi-disciplinary team bringing diverse perspectives to complex technical challenges
Your work will directly impact the development of next-generation wireless communication technologies. We expect interns to take ownership of smaller projects while collaborating closely with the team, with opportunities to present findings and contribute to technical discussions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Completed graduate coursework in both of the following:
- One from Classical Signal Processing & Communications: Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Communication Networks, or Information Theory
- One from Machine Learning & Data Science: Machine Learning Theory, Deep Learning, Statistical Data Analysis, or Convex Optimization
- Demonstrated understanding of signal processing fundamentals through projects, thesis work, or coursework
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in C++, Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages
- Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar deep learning frameworks
- Experience with simulation frameworks for communication systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to decompose complex challenges
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with 5G NR or other cellular system standards
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development practices
