Über diesen Job
Intro
At Mycolever, we are building the powerhouse for sustainable fungal biocompounds. We are unlocking the biodiversity of fungi to supercharge the industrial bioeconomy.
Our journey begins with our glycolipid platform, where we develop multi-functional and eco-friendly alternatives to petrochemical-based ingredients for personal care & cosmetics, food, home care and beyond.
We unlock the Fungal Kingdom with our compound discovery platform and aim to provide performant ingredients that minimize the environmental footprints of our customers. Let’s create a greener future together.
Tasks
We are seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to support and drive our go-to-market strategy in personal care and cosmetics, bridging science, market, and customer needs.
In this role, you will work closely with the founders, formulation and regulatory specialists, and the broader team. This is an ideal role for someone with a passion for sustainable bioinnovation, a strong market and customer mindset, and hands-on experience or strong interest in the commercial side of personal care & cosmetics or specialty ingredients.
As Business Development & Marketing Manager, you will responsible for:
- Go-to-Market Execution: Help execute our GTM strategy by supporting lead generation, marketing activities and sales enablement.
- Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor trends, competitors, and customer needs to inform strategy, product positioning, and sales opportunities.
- Brand & Market Positioning: Develop and refine brand narratives and product positioning in alignment with market and customer needs, especially in personal care and cosmetics.
- Marketing Activities: Create and coordinate claim-driven, customer-oriented marketing materials in close collaboration with internal colleagues in business, formulation, regulatory, and tech. Prepare and participate at e.g. trade fairs and industry events.
- Commercial Enablement: Support creation of pricing strategies, company and product presentation materials tailored to specific customer segments.
- Sales Prospecting: Identify and engage new customers through outbound campaigns, digital outreach, and partnership opportunities.
- Customer Relationship Management: Nurture leads and build strong, trust-based relationships with prospects and key customers.
- Distribution & Partner Support: Collaborate with ingredient suppliers, distribution partners and explore additional sales channels.
What success looks like:
- You have helped establish Mycolever as a credible and innovative ingredient brand in the personal care and cosmetics industry.
- You have become a trusted commercial partner within the Mycolever team, closely aligning marketing and sales with claims-oriented product development.
- You have created a consistent, customer-oriented communication across channels, from product decks to engaged potential customer.
- You have expanded our commercial pipeline and supported successful onboarding and retention of pilot customers.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Background: A degree in business, business and technology or a related field is required; Technical affinity or academic background in chemistry, material science, cosmetic science or similar is a strong plus.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in personal care and cosmetics, ideally in sales, marketing, business development, or purchasing of ingredients or specialty chemicals.
- Translation skills: This role bridges commercial strategy with technical understanding, so the ability to translate scientific insights into market value is essential.
- Commercial acumen: Understanding of ingredient market dynamics, customer decision processes, and claims-driven communication in B2B cosmetics.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first mindset; ability to translate technical features into business benefits.
- Language skills: Fluent English is a must. German and other European languages are a plus.
- Execution skills: Self-starter with hands-on attitude, structured thinking, and strong ownership of projects.
- Flexibility & Drive: Comfortable in a fast-paced startup, willing to travel up to 20–30% (mainly in Europe, possibly overseas over time).
Benefits
- A unique opportunity to shape the future of the bioeconomy and address some of the world’s biggest challenges.
- An inspiring and collaborative team of experts in fungal biotechnology and innovative biosolutions.
- Opportunities for personal and professional growth in a pioneering VC backed venture.
- A culture that values curiosity, humility, and long-term impact.
