Senior Controller - IT Controlling Operations (m/f/d)*
In Reinsurance Controlling at Munich Re, controlling responsibilities and management reporting are bundled to support consistent financial steering and the appropriate allocation of resources.
IT Controlling Operations provides the foundation for the financial steering of IT services across the Group. The team combines operational excellence, controlling methodology, data governance, and process development to ensure transparent, reliable, and scalable IT financial management.
We are looking for an experienced and committed Senior Controller to support the Head of Section in developing a resilient and scalable operating model. The role combines hands-on responsibility for key IT Controlling Operations activities with continuously developing and implementing processes, methodologies, and operating models. As a senior contributor, the position holder is required to support collaboration and alignment across the entire Munich Re Group, spanning Reinsurance Controlling, the business fields Reinsurance and Specialty as well as ERGO, and all relevant functions ensuring effective coordination across organizational boundaries.
Your Job
- Support the Head of Section in continuously developing a resilient and scalable Group-wide IT Controlling Operations model, including clear responsibilities, decision rights, governance, and interfaces
- Act as a senior coordination point across Reinsurance Controlling at Munich Re, the business fields Reinsurance and Specialty as well as ERGO, Accounting, Tax, and other central functions
- Develop and support the alignment of methodologies, planning assumptions, operational requirements, and implementation activities for Group-wide IT financial steering topics
- Contribute to and own the effective execution and continuous improvement of global IT cost planning, closing, accruals, cost allocation, invoicing, master data, reporting, and controlling methodologies
- Contribute to and own the continuous improvement of planning, billing, allocation, and reporting processes and systems, including SAP CO, EDWH, Power BI, and related environments
- Identify structural bottlenecks and key-person dependencies and establish sustainable deputy, backup, knowledge-transfer, and succession arrangements for business-critical processes
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between Munich and Warsaw teams and contribute to scalable operational delivery models
- Promote consistent Group-wide process, control, documentation, and training standards across companies, topics, and locations
- Support internal alignments and coordination within Global IT Controlling
Your Profile
- University degree or comparable professional qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Several years of relevant professional experience in Controlling, IT Finance, Finance Operations, Financial Governance, or a related area
- Strong understanding of IT cost structures, technology service environments, end-to-end IT financial processes, as well as relevant Accounting and Tax implications in an international environment.
- Practical experience working with SAP-based financial processes, preferably SAP CO; familiarity with EDWH and Power BI is an advantage
- Collaborative and integrative personality with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups and organizational boundaries
- Proven capability to anticipate future requirements within own area of responsibility and across related processes and functions, and to translate findings into actions
- High organizational maturity, systemic thinking, and commitment to sustainable Group-wide outcomes
- Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Ability to influence and lead through expertise, credibility, and collaboration rather than formal authority
- Fluent business English; German language skills are an advantage
