What this role is about
As a Senior Software Asset Manager (m/f/d), you will take ownership of Software Asset Management at PAYBACK and continuously further develop our software governance. You will create transparency across software products, contracts, licensing models and costs, helping to minimize compliance risks while realizing optimization opportunities. In this role, you will work closely with Technology, Procurement, Legal, Security, Finance and our business departments.
Your day-to-day work
- You manage the entire software lifecycle, from request through decommissioning, and are responsible for transparency regarding software licenses, contracts, renewals and costs
- You continuously develop our SAM governance, standards and processes and advise business departments and technology teams on licensing, contract and procurement topics
- You analyze software usage, identify optimization opportunities and realize cost savings
- You ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements and support software audits
- You create meaningful reports, KPIs and decision-making materials for management and stakeholders
- You work closely with Procurement, Legal, Security, Finance and international teams

- You bring several years of experience in Software Asset Management, License Management or IT Controlling
- You are able to confidently assess software licensing models and contract structures and you have experience with SAM solutions such as Matrix42, Flexera, ServiceNow or comparable tools
- You think analytically and enjoy working with data, cost models and optimization opportunities
- You can communicate complex topics in an understandable way and bring together different stakeholders
- You enjoy taking ownership and combining operational topics with strategic challenges
- You are fluent in both German & English and can communicate confidently in a business environment
