Solution Architect - M365 Collaboration & SharePoint Online (m/f/d)*

This role will be part of the Corporate Functions Tower for Group Technology ( IT 1.12), which oversees IT service delivery and manages key relationships across all corporate and central units, including Finance, HR, Legal & Compliance, Services/Facilities, and Procurement. The Tower also manages cross-functional domains such as document management, collaboration platforms, corporate websites, and Group-wide Identity Access Management (IAM), as well as selected central platforms and Regulatory/Integrated Risk Management (IRM) product delivery.

As a Solutions Architect in our M365 Apps & Services Product Team, you will steer and continuously develop our Microsoft 365 collaboration platform – with a strong focus on SharePoint Online, Lists and related workloads. You combine service and process ownership with genuine technical depth: you lead our SharePoint Online (SPO) maintenance team, own the product backlog, safeguard our M365 compliance processes and drive service automation via MR Snow Forms and Azure runbooks. You act as the central interface between IT, business, compliance and our external service providers – and you are able to challenge and quality-assure technical designs at eye level with developers and technical architects.

Your job

• Steer the SharePoint Online (SPO) maintenance team – coordinating internal staff and external providers, ensuring stable operations, evergreening and housekeeping of our M365 collaboration workloads.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating business requirements into user stories and clearly scoped work packages for the development and maintenance teams (Azure DevOps).
• Architect, review and quality-assure custom SharePoint Online development (SPFx components, Azure Functions, provisioning engine) in alignment with Munich Re enterprise architecture standards, security and CI/CD release practices.
• Design, operate and continuously improve automated service processes based on MRSnow (ServiceNow) Forms and Azure Automation runbooks to streamline provisioning, permission and owner management.
• Drive SPO related projects like the M365 Retention Management project – designing and implementing retention and lifecycle concepts for SharePoint, OneDrive and related workloads in line with compliance requirements.
• Safeguard the M365 compliance processes (RACE / Compliance Gate, data protection, IT security, works council alignment) and keep our solution and operating documentation audit-ready.
• Establish and govern information and document governance for our collaboration workloads – defining structures, standards and knowledge-management practices that make SharePoint the central repository for process and solution documentation.
• Create and maintain end-user adoption material for our internal enablement platform "work smarter" – developing how-to guides, best practices and training content that help colleagues get the most out of SharePoint Online and our M365 collaboration workloads, in close collaboration with our Business Adoption team.
• Support sourcing and vendor management activities for our collaboration services (RfP/RfI, tool evaluation, provider onboarding) and contribute to the further development of our service portfolio and offering.
• Act as interface between IT, business stakeholders, compliance and external service providers, guiding changes through the relevant governance and release processes.

Your profile

• University degree in Computer science / IT, Information Management or a comparable qualification.
• 4+ years of experience in the delivery, steering and operation of IT solutions, ideally within the financial services or insurance industry.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration workloads – in particular SharePoint Online and Lists – including their design, configuration, permission concepts and operation.
• Practical technical proficiency with at least one of the following, and the ability to grow into the others with our support: SharePoint Framework (SPFx), PowerShell / Microsoft Graph, Azure Automation runbooks, Azure Functions, or CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
• Proven strength in IT service and process design (ITSM/ITIL, SIAM) and in steering internal staff and external service providers – ideally with hands-on Service-Now (MR Snow) experience, MS Forms and process automation skills.
• Solid experience in backlog management, requirements engineering and agile ways of working (Scrum, SAFe), ideally using Azure DevOps.
• Experience in IT operating model design, governance frameworks and monitoring/reporting setup for cross-team service delivery.
• Working knowledge of compliance, data protection and IT security requirements in a Microsoft 365 context (e.g. RACE / Compliance Gate, Microsoft Purview, retention and records management).
• ITIL certified (or willing to pursue certification with our support); Microsoft 365 / SharePoint or Azure certifications are a clear advantage.
• Strong communication, organizational change and stakeholder management skills, with fluent German and English (written and spoken).
• Ideally Change Management experience – driving adoption, communication and enablement in transformation contexts.
• International, cross-team collaboration experience in distributed setups.
