About the Role
As Vice President Research & Development / Technology Tissue, you will define, develop, and deliver Essity’s Tissue R&D and Technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring differentiation, compliance, sustainability, and cost competitiveness. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, enabling technology, and building strategic partnerships that strengthen Essity’s leadership in hygiene and health.
What You Will Do
Lead Strategy: Define and execute the Tissue R&D and Technology roadmap aligned with business priorities, driving differentiation, superiority, compliance, safety, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.
Drive Technology Enablement & Ensure Capital Efficiency: Partner with Supply Chain to optimize asset/platform strategy, automation, manufacturability, and CAPEX optimization, improving ROCE, flexibility, and cost competitiveness across the entire value chain.
Foster Open Innovation: Build partnerships with suppliers, universities, and start-ups to introduce new materials, breakthrough platforms, and differentiated technologies.
Ensure Scientific Excellence: Oversee laboratories and testing to validate claims, safety, and consumer experience.
Develop Capabilities: Manage pilot lines, packaging, materials, and prototyping assets to support innovation and business needs.
Support product development: Provide expertise to product development teams for start-up of new lines and launch excellence.
Deliver Breakthrough Innovation: Introduce innovative products and technologies timely into markets
Who You Are
10+ years of leadership experience in R&D, Product Development, or Technology roles within FMCG or regulated industries.
Strong knowledge of asset and process technology, materials, sustainability, and cost-to-serve drivers.
Skilled in building global technical organizations and leading change in matrix environments.
Collaborative, visionary, and inclusive leader with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that deliver measurable business results.
Proven ability to proactively drive positive, transformational change within an organization.
Experienced in building and leading high-performing international and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated success improving manufacturability, productivity, and competitive advantage via technology.
Fluent in English, written and verbal.
