Tasks
The Role
We are looking to hire a Data Engineer to join our team. You will work on designing, building, and operating the data systems that power both research and live trading. The scope and ownership of the role will be tailored to your experience and strengths.
You will collaborate closely with experienced software engineers, DevOps professionals, and researchers. Your work will focus on orchestrating and managing large-scale datasets, developing robust data pipelines, and ensuring reliable and efficient data flow in a production trading environment. Your work will directly impact research velocity and trading performance.
Responsibilities include, among other things.
- Designing and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines (Python, workflow orchestration systems such as Dagster)
- Managing and optimizing data storage systems (e.g. columnar and relational databases such as ClickHouse or PostgreSQL)
- Delivering reliable, high-quality datasets for research and production use
- Operating data infrastructure (containerized and distributed systems)
- Monitoring and improving system reliability (observability and alerting tools)
Requirements
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities, skills, and experience:
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred)
- Solid understanding of data engineering concepts (ETL, data modeling, data warehousing)
- Experience building or working with production data systems
- Understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and processing trade-offs
- Ability to write reliable and maintainable code
- Curiosity and ownership mindset when working on complex systems
