Development Engineer (f/m/d) - Simulations for Heating & Cooling Wind Transformers

Über diesen Job

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Development Engineer at Siemens Energy you focus on simulations for heating and cooling of renewable energy transformers. This position is an addition to the Grid Technologies' Renewables Transformer development team, aimed at enhancing product performance and reliability for the growing renewables sector. To achieve this, the role will concentrate on two primary areas. The first is advanced thermal and electromagnetic simulation, involving the creation and execution of models to predict transformer performance under various conditions. The second is product development integration, where simulation results are analyzed, validated against test data, and used to guide design improvements and new component development.

If you enjoy solving complex technical problems independently while staying closely connected to product design decisions, you will quickly find your footing here

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead advanced thermal simulations to model transformer heating and cooling performance for renewable energy applications.
  • Run electromagnetic and fluid dynamics simulations and connect their results to thermal behavior and overall transformer efficiency.
  • Analyze complex simulation outputs to spot trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize designs and improve reliability.
  • Drive model improvements by maintaining and refining simulation methodologies to keep accuracy high as product requirements evolve.
  • Partner with product design engineers to translate simulation insights into actionable design specifications for components and upgrades.
  • Validate models against physical tests and field data, then report findings clearly through technical summaries and stakeholder-ready presentations.

What You Bring

  • A completed technical education (HTL, FH, TU) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in an engineering product development or research environment, including hands-on use of simulation software for thermal, fluid dynamics, and/or electromagnetic analysis.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools for heating and cooling calculations, plus an understanding of current transformer standards and customer requirements (advantageous).
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a distributed team environment.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus, especially German.
