Academic position

The State Plant Breeding Institute of the University of Hohenheim is looking for two PhD candidates (f/m/d) to start on 1 May 2026, fixed-term until 30 April 2029, up to EG13 TV-L, scope of employment 65% , subject to final approval of the third-party funded project.

YOUR TASKS

• Conductance of extensive field trials on nitrogen fertilisation and fungicide use and the respective laboratory tests for quality and ingredient analysis
• Collection of data in the field and extensive laboratory tests
• Statistical evaluation in a plant breeding context of the above field and laboratory tests
• Development and implementation of various selection indices for nutrient efficiency
• Preparation of reports, presentations, publications and public relations work

YOUR PROFILE

• University Master degree with a focus on plant breeding and/or quantitative genetics and/or biostatistics
• Good knowledge of statistical software (preferably R, ASReml)
• Very good knowledge of English, good knowledge of German is an advantage
• Basic knowledge and experience with plant breeding trials is an advantage
• Class B driving licence is an advantage
