At the Cell Culture Core Facility (CCCF) at TU Wien, a position as a
Cell Culture Expert
is available (40 hours per week, for 3 years). CCCF equipment includes laminar flow hoods, incubators, centrifuges, refrigerators/freezers, microscopes, automated cell counters, a FACS/cell sorter, a bioprinter, a histology lab and molecular biology equipment. With this, the CCCF provides space, equipment, supplies and training for TU Wien research labs from disciplines as diverse as mechanics, physics, chemistry and electronics.
Tasks:

Manage, streamline and further develop operations of the Cell Culture Core Facility including:
-
Refine operational policies and procedures
-
Supervise and operate main CCCF instruments
-
Provide training and advanced technical support for facility users
-
Support the design and execution of research projects in close collaboration with facility users
-
Provide expertise in imaging techniques (fluorescence microscopy, immuno-labeling, life cell imaging) and molecular biology methods, in particular genetic modification of mammalian cells (CRISPR/Cas9, plasmid and viral vectors)

Teaching and training of students
-
Maintenance and upkeep of large equipment (primarily flow cytometer/FACS, microscopes, histology station)
-
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and university policies
-
Train, supervise and coordinate personnel
-
Manage procurement for the CCCF, including identification, evaluation, and initiation of new equipment acquisitions
-
Network development and support for the user community across several faculties at TU Wien. Further development may also include expanding the network to external users from science and industry.
Your profile:
-
At least a Master’s degree or equivalent, or a Diploma degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, tissue engineering or similar closely related field
-
10+ years of experience in mammalian cell culture, including primary cell culture, 3D cell culture models
-
Several years of experience in flow cytometry
-
Several years of experience in imaging techniques (confocal fluorescence microscopy, immuno-labeling, life cell imaging and alternative imaging techniques)
-
Several years of experience in molecular biology techniques and genetic modification of mammalian cells (CRISPR/Cas9, plasmid/viral vectors)
-
Ability to communicate effectively with scientists from different disciplines
-
Experience in student supervision
-
Strong team-working skills
-
Ability to supervise and train staff
-
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently

Willingness/health suitability to work in an environment with a risk of infection
-
Excellent communication skills (preferably in both English and German)

Very good computer literacy
Previous experience in laboratory management or related coordination roles, as well as research experience, is considered an asset.
