About the role

As Group Risk Manager, you will play an important role in strengthening how Mondi identifies, assesses and manages technical and operational risks across the Group.

Working closely with the Group Technical Risk and Insurance Manager, you will help shape and implement risk management strategies that protect our people, assets and business operations. You will work across our global network of sites, partnering with technical, operational and SHE teams to identify risks, strengthen mitigation measures and support informed business decisions.

This is a Group-level role with broad stakeholder exposure, combining technical risk expertise, risk assessment, insurance and continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to work across different businesses and locations, build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners, and contribute to the further development of our risk management approach.

Your mission

• Support the development and implementation of Group-wide technical risk management strategies, standards and processes.
• Coordinate and oversee technical risk identification and assessment across Mondi sites and operations.
• Lead technical risk surveys and audits, working with local teams to identify improvement opportunities and follow up on mitigation actions.
• Provide expert advice on technical risks to support operational decisions, projects and business initiatives.
• Monitor risk treatment activities and provide clear updates and reporting to relevant stakeholders.
• Work closely with Group SHE, Engineering, Operations and other technical functions to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.
• Collect, validate and analyse risk data, turning it into meaningful reports, dashboards and insights for management.
• Manage relationships with external service providers and other relevant partners.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management processes, standards and risk culture across the Group.
• Lead or support crisis management and incident investigations where technical risks are involved.

Your profile

You combine a strong understanding of technical and operational risk with the ability to work effectively across a complex international organisation. You bring:

• Solid professional experience in technical risk management, operational risk, engineering, insurance risk or a related field, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience assessing and managing risks associated with industrial assets, equipment, processes and operations.
• Experience working with insurance programmes and technical risk assessments in an international or multi-site environment.
• A good understanding of areas such as property, machinery, operational hazards and loss prevention.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use risk data to identify priorities, support decisions and communicate insights.
• The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions, levels and locations.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to make technical topics clear and relevant to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience managing projects and coordinatingcross-functional activities.
• A structured, pragmatic approach, with the ability to move from identifying a risk to agreeing and following through on practical mitigation actions.
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) would be an advantage.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Insurance or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications in risk or insurance management would be an advantage.
• Fluency in English.

Location & travel

• The role can be based in Austria (Vienna), Germany or Poland.
• The position involves travel to Mondi sites, with the frequency depending on business needs and risk assessment activities.
