Department of Information Systems and Operations Management
Part-time, 12 hours/week
Starting September 01, 2026, and limited until September 30, 2027

What to expect

• Research: You will collaborate on ongoing research topics and projects as well as help develop new research topics and projects jointly with the team. The focus will be on quantitative, analytical, design-oriented research in areas such as machine learning-based information systems, big data analytics, sociotechnical criteria of AI, and data quality. Tasks may include e.g. method development, programming, conduction of data analyses, data collection, and literature search and analysis. You will acquire research experience and benefit from collaboration with internationally renowned researchers.
• Teaching and Supervision: Expect to help planning and creating courses, supporting teaching activities at WU.
• Organizational and administrative support: You will support general tasks, especially related to the set-up of both the team as well as research and teaching activities.
• Collaboration in a newly forming team: You will be part of a newly forming, interdisciplinary, and ambitious team and have the opportunity of close collaboration, supportive teamwork, and intensive mentoring. Expect a supervisor that is highly motivated to help you grow.

What you have to offer

• Ongoing studies: You are currently enrolled in a study program with a focus on fields such as information systems / business informatics, mathematics, data science, computer science, or artificial intelligence, with at least 13 months to graduation. A (very) good studying performance is an advantage.
• Motivation and personal characteristics: You are highly motivated for both research and teaching and have the ambition to produce strong results. Teamwork and reliability is highly important to you. You are righteous, curious, thorough, organized, and show initiative.
• Skills: You have knowledge of OR a deep interest to learn new skills in data analytics (e.g., machine learning). Strong Microsoft Office (especially in Word, Powerpoint) as well as programming skills (especially in Python), particularly regarding data analytics, are an advantage.
• Language skills: You are able to express yourself well in both spoken and written English. Language skills in German are an advantage.
