At the Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics, in the Research Group for Numerical Analysis and Design Methods, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) until expected 4 years, for 30 hours/week. Expected start: May 2026.

Tasks:

• Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
• Co-supervision of students
• Research and project activity in the area of design optimization with novel computing approaches such as quantum computing
• Writing a dissertation and publications
• Participation in scientific events
• Assistance/ Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: Computational Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar
• Competencies in scientific research
• Experience in the following scientific fields is beneficial: numerical simulation, quantum computing, design optimization, and continuum mechanics
• Very good skills in English communication and writing
• Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
• Outstanding problem-solving abilities, team-oriented mindset, and innovative thinking

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
