At the Institute for Theoretical Physics, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant post-doc (all genders) limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: October 2026.

Tasks:

• Theoretical research on cosmological gravitational waves as a probe of the early universe
• Writing and publishing of scientific articles
• Participation in research and project activities
• Participation in scientific events
• Participation in teaching activities and exams, as well as supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD candidates
• Participation in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• PhD in physics or related discipline such as mathematics or aerospace engineering
• Research experience (both analytical and numerical) of gravitational wave generation in the early universe
• Member of the LISA consortium
• Excellent knowledge of the theory of hydrodynamics and MHD turbulence
• Interest in supervision and work with students
• Experience using numerical turbulence codes for cosmology such as PENCIL
• Ability for independent research, teamwork, and creative thinking
• Demonstrated success in obtaining third-party research funding of at least 500k€
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 5,014.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
