The IMBA Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is an internationally recognized research institute that focuses on molecular medicine, stem cell research and RNA biology and is home to about 280 scientists from over 42 countries. Weekend Student Worker (m/f/d) Human Stem Cell and Organoid Projects

The Tissue Culture Support Unit at IMBA seeks highly motivated weekend student workers (20 hours/week) to support human stem cell and organoid projects. Join a collaborative environment advancing models of human development and disease while gaining hands‑on experience with state‑of‑the‑art techniques in different research groups.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain human stem cell and organoid cultures (e.g., cardiac, brain, blastoid, gastruloid) on weekends and public holidays.
  • Assist with ongoing differentiation protocols and treatments to ensure continuity of critical experiments.
  • Contribute to smooth progression of research projects and laboratory workflows.

Your profile

  • Enrolled students in Vienna, ideally in the final phase of a Bachelor’s in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related life sciences.
  • Fast learner with strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for hands‑on lab work; confident; basic wet‑lab and pipetting skills.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique is a strong advantage.
  • Reliable, well organized, proactive; effective communication and documentation skills in English (written and spoken).
