The position is available at the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna in the newly founded Christian Doppler Laboratory for Peritoneal Regulation of the Immune-Metabolic Ecosystem in Peritoneal Dialysis (CDL-PRIME-PD), headed by Rebecca Herzog.
The Laboratory: The CDL-PRIME-PD opens in March 2026 and will conduct high-level, application-oriented basic research. The laboratory is located at the interdisciplinary Anna Spiegel Center for Translational Research of the Medical University of Vienna. Candidates will benefit from an excellent state-of the art set of resources, numerous educational events and interdisciplinary scientific exchange.
The Project: CDL-PRIME-PD investigates metaflammation and immunometabolism to uncover novel therapeutic targets for patients with end-stage kidney disease, with a strong focus on peritoneal dialysis (PD). This postdoctoral project aims to elucidate the systemic impact of PD on other organs, particularly its role in driving metaflammation and cardiovascular complications. The successful candidate will apply cutting-edge experimental approaches, including in vivo disease models, metabolic imaging, metabolomics, proteomics, microbiome profiling, and integrative multi-omics analyses.
The Candidate – Desired Skills and Experience
- PhD degree in any life/natural sciences or related fields

- Experience in handling omics data, programming and analysis software. Experience in biostatistics/data science are an advantage
- Excellent communication skills in English; flexibility, self-management, and organizational skills
We offer
• A challenging job in an inspiring, dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and engaged research environment
