The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering is currently seeking a
Postgraduate Research Associate
project employment

Extent of employment:
from July 2026, limited to December 2027 (with option for temporary extension)

Gross monthly salary:
(depending on previous eligible experience) at least:
€ 2.832,10 (payable 14 times per year)
Responsibilities
PhD thesis o Project work (reporting, internal presentations and presentations to industry partner) o Co-supervision of Bachelor / Master students
Required skills and qualifications
Diploma degree in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, bioengineering or other equivalent university degree o Language skills:
English C1 / German A1 or willingness to learn o Solid theoretical understanding of upstream and downstream of bioprocesses o Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques (e.g. mammalian cell culture in plates, flasks, or bioreactors)

Desirable skills and qualifications
Familiarity with scale-down and scale-up concepts in bioprocess development o Basic experience with downstream processing operations, such as cell harvest, cell lysis, clarification, and chromatography o Familiarity with critical quality attributes (CQA) and analytical characterization of biopharmaceuticals
o Strong interest in process development, miniaturization, semi-automation and programming o Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and interpret process-quality relationships o High level of motivation, independence combined with strong team spirit, and problem-solving skills Applications can be submitted until:
