Über diesen Job
Balmo is an early-stage healthtech startup addressing a vastly under-served condition: chronic dry mouth (xerostomia). We are launching a novel oral gel designed to provide long-lasting relief for millions of patients worldwide. In collaboration with leading clinics and specialist partners, we are bringing this solution to market as a regulated medical device.
Joining Balmo means helping build a MedTech company from 0 to 1 in real time. You will work directly with the founders and gain hands-on exposure to how medical insights evolve into a regulated product, clinical adoption, and a real business. We are early, fast and ambitious — you join exactly at the moment when strategy, fundraising and execution all run in parallel.
Tasks
Your Role
As a Founder's Associate / Business Development Intern, you act as a force multiplier for the founders across strategy, market intelligence, fundraising and operations.
Strategy & Market
- Analyse the xerostomia/oral care market across key segments (oncology, geriatrics, dental, OTC, self-pay) in DACH and internationally
- Map competitors and adjacent solutions—value propositions, claims, pricing, channels, geography, clinical evidence
- Translate insights into clear strategic recommendations for Balmo
Go-to-Market & Internationalisation
- Support the development of our launch strategy: indications, priority markets and channels
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of clinics, cancer centres, dentists, pharmacies and distribution partners
- Prepare materials for clinical and commercial stakeholders (one-pagers, pitch decks, follow-up materials)
Business Model & Pricing
- Research pricing benchmarks across clinics, pharmacies, online channels and international markets
- Analyse reimbursement and market access pathways (e.g., statutory vs. private insurance, hospital billing, self-pay)
- Support the development and stress-testing of Balmo’s revenue model, unit economics and commercial scenarios
Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Build and refine an investor longlist (VCs, family offices, strategics) with a strong MedTech fit
- Contribute to the pitch deck and data room (market analyses, traction, roadmap, financials)
- Assist in due diligence, term sheet analysis, cap table work and benchmarking market terms
(Depending on your strengths, you may also support ad-hoc projects in operations and the value chain, e.g., manufacturing, packaging, logistics.)
Requirements
You are a high-performing student in Business/Management, Economics, Health Economics, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy or a related field
Strong analytical skills and structured thinking; confident with numbers and Excel/Sheets
Very good PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to turn analysis into crisp presentations
Curious, confident and thoughtful in using AI tools to accelerate your work
Fluent in English; German is a strong plus
Ideally, first experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, venture capital, a startup or a student initiative
Proactive, hands-on mindset with ownership, flexibility, drive and the ability to give constructive pushback and think outside of the box
Genuine interest in health, science or MedTech and motivated to create visible impact for patients
Benefits
A steep learning curve and direct exposure to all aspects of building a MedTech venture and to participate in the scaling of a future international company
Close collaboration with the founders and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one
A dynamic, ambitious environment at the intersection of medicine, technology and business
A potential pathway to a permanent role at Balmo after the internship, depending on fit and company needs
