Private Equity Investment Director
Über diesen Job
Select Alternative Investments is a Direct Investment Platform providing access to private market opportunities across Private Equity, Real Estate, and Venture Capital. We co-invest alongside our investors and focus on proprietary, relationship-driven deal sourcing rather than blind pool asset allocation.
Unlike traditional private equity managers with dedicated asset-class teams and an operational focus, we operate as an active capital partner. Our role spans origination, structuring, and strategic oversight, partnering with best-in-class sponsors, founders, and operators to drive value creation across the capital structure.
All investments are structured in-house by a globally distributed team based in Singapore, Zurich, Vienna, and Ho Chi Minh City.
To support continued growth, we are seeking a senior investment professional to take a leading role in European deal sourcing and execution, while maintaining high-level oversight of portfolio investments in close collaboration with operating partners.
This role is designed for seasoned professionals who have built deals, not just managed portfolios.
Tasks
Deal Sourcing & Origination
- Proactively originate private equity investment opportunities through personal network of sponsors, founders, GPs, advisors, and intermediaries across Europe.
- Drive deal flow generation independently, with sourcing treated as a core responsibility rather than a shared or secondary activity.
- Identify sector themes, consolidation opportunities, and structural inefficiencies aligned with the firm’s investment strategies.
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with co-investors, operating partners, and capital providers.
Underwriting, Structuring & Execution
- Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including commercial, financial, legal, and tax due diligence.
- Design and negotiate investment structures across common equity, preferred equity, and structured capital solutions.
- Prepare and present investment proposals to the Investment Committee with full ownership of the investment thesis.
- Coordinate transaction execution with stakeholders across Europe and Asia.
- Actively contribute to capital raising discussions by articulating deal rationale, risk, and value-creation levers.
Post-Investment Oversight
- Oversee portfolio investments with a focus on governance, strategic execution, and value-creation milestones.
- Engage with management teams, sponsors, and boards at a strategic level rather than day-to-day asset monitoring.
- Support follow-on investments, refinancings, and exit planning in coordination with operating partners.
Platform Development
- Contribute to the continuous refinement of investment processes, sourcing playbooks, and internal decision frameworks.
- Act as a senior reference point for junior team members, providing mentorship grounded in real transaction experience.
- Support the evolution of the platform as a scalable direct-investment business rather than a traditional fund manager.
Requirements
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in private equity or principal investing roles, with a clear emphasis on deal origination and execution.
- Demonstrated track record of independently sourcing proprietary deals; deal sourcing is a core requirement and not optional for this role.
- Strong preference for candidates with mid-market private equity experience, particularly in buy-and-build, roll-up, and consolidation strategies.
- Established professional network in Europe, with proven ability to originate transactions across one or more European markets.
- Experience working directly with founders, owner-operators, and sponsors, rather than purely allocating capital into third-party funds.
- Candidates whose background is limited to portfolio management or asset allocation without hands-on sourcing exposure are unlikely to be a fit.
- Strong financial modelling, structuring, and negotiation capabilities across equity and structured investments.
- Master’s degree from a leading institution in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline.
- Full professional fluency in English; additional European languages are a strong advantage.
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with significant responsibility and accountability.
- Commercial mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to operate credibly with senior counterparties.
Benefits
- Highly diverse and dynamic environment with joint teams spanning from Europe to Asia
- Tremendous personal growth potential due to flat hierarchy and global scale
- Opportunity to develop into a role with higher responsibility over time
- Benefit from different locations (e.g. work in a vibrant office in Singapore, Vietnam, or Europe)
- Competitive compensation
IMPORTANT NOTE :
