Research Chemist 

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Chemist to join our client's Crop Protection Research Chemistry team in Stein, Switzerland. In this temporary role, you will be responsible for the design, execution, and optimization of synthetic routes to target molecules, supporting research projects from discovery through development. The position requires strong technical expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, a collaborative mindset, and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently execute and optimize synthetic routes to target molecules, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable practices.
• Design and troubleshoot synthetic strategies using knowledge of modern methods, retrosynthesis, and digital tools.
• Partner with analytical, automation, and purification platforms to maximize productivity.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments of experimental procedures and raw materials in compliance with HSE standards.
• Document and communicate experimental procedures, data, and results with scientific accuracy to ensure reproducibility, traceability, and IP protection.
• Collaborate with team members to solve technical challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory practices and workflows.

Must-Haves:

• Master’s degree in Synthetic Chemistry or equivalent, or 3–5 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including reaction design, retrosynthesis, purification, and structural elucidation.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely in laboratory environments, with thorough understanding of HSE standards.
• Experience with digital tools/software for synthesis design and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work both independently and within diverse teams.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
