Keram Tech provides specialist knowledge to ceramics and refractories industries and users as well as to the defence industry for personal body and vehicle armour.

Specialised expertise development project - a sialon bonded silicon carbide for Low Mass Kiln Furniture and Body Armour, using either slip casting or pressure casting technologies. This product is denoted for high hot and cold strength, excellent thermal properties, excellent resistance to abrasion, oxidation and molten non-ferrous metals and chemical stability. Also a new fully dense sialon bonded silicon carbide product by Spark Plasma Sintering, which is equivalent to Boron Carbide in properties and would be suitable for Vehicle Armour.

Technical assistance is available for other standard silicon carbide refractory products with bonding systems based on silicon nitride, silicon oxynitride, silicate and clay, as well as mid and high alumina, cordierite, zircon and zirconia.

Production techniques include hydraulic and isostatic pressing, pressure casting, spray drying and slip casting.
