The Tartana is a small boat with lateen sails used for centuries for coastal fishing. This boat has been widely used from Seville through the Guadalquivir River and all the way to its mouth, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Our Tartana, a replica of this ancient vessel, has been recently built and is 8 meters long and 3.14 meters broad. The floor and seats are made of teak wood. The basic idea of the ATLANTISAN PROJECT, for Ecotourism and Fishing, is to go on a ethnographic journey through Doñana, showing our visitors its natural environment, the uses and customs of our sailors, ornithological routes and wine tasting in the mouth of the Guadalquivir river on a replica of the ancient fishing boat called TARTANA, used for centuries in a mystical territory that descends directly from the ancient fishing village of TARTESSOS.
