For the past 35 years, Bobby Lawrence Karate has provided instructional programs for both young and old. The institution aims to instill core values that students can utilize in their daily lives as well as in the karate studio; these include confidence, discipline, and respect.

The school’s founder, Master Bobby Lawrence, has studied karate for more than 40 years. After Master Lawrence spent several years teaching and working in a corporate environment, his wife, Charlene, decided to turn his hobby into a business and opened the first karate school in 1978. Today, Master Lawrence, his wife, and their three sons are all involved in the schools. Additionally, Master Lawrence’s sons have all earned their black belts and won karate competitions at the state, national, and international levels. Having trained with some of the most renowned martial artists in the world, including Senior Grand Master Ed Parker and Grand Master Richard Callahan, Bobby Lawrence earned his “Master” status from Grand Master Callahan in 1994.

In addition to classes such as Little Ninjas and Junior Basic Training for students age 4 through 12, and the Adult Basic Training courses for students age 13 and older, the school offers advanced programs such as the Special Winning Attitude Team (S.W.A.T.), Black Belt Training, and Black Belt Leadership programs. The S.W.A.T. performs at local events and schools throughout Utah, while the Black Belt Training and Leadership programs are designed for individuals who wish to, respectively, earn their black belt status and become leaders in the karate schools and within the community.

Bobby Lawrence Karate schools can be found in 17 different locations in Utah, including Centerville, Coalville, Logan, Orem, St. George, and West Valley, as well as the newest location in Spanish Fork.
