curach bhán publications is a newly-established publishing house which aims to publish books of the highest quality, on a national and international level.

We concentrate to publish in the area of cultural studies, with focus on interdisciplinary research papers, especially aiming to give lesser-known areas of study an appropriate forum for publication.

We are quite open to publishing works covering any of the various aspects of cultural studies, but feel a particular commitment towards disciplines which find it hard – especially in the current financial environment – to find a suitable academic publisher.

We are particularly interested in the work of younger academics, be it at Post-Doctoral or Doctoral level, (or indeed at Masters’ level if the work is of exceptional quality).

If you are interested in working with a competent publishing partner, talk to us:

Yours sincerely,

P:S:

A word about our name

curach bhán is Irish for 'white boat' or white curach. What is meant is the boat by which the hero of medieval Irish literature makes his way to the fabled Otherworld.

I chose the name because of my many years spent studying these wonderful texts.

Our logo is based on the – as far as I know only – historical depiction of a curach from the "Bantry -" or "Kilnaruane Pillar" from Co. Cork, Ireland.
