Институт экономических исследований был создан постановлением Правительства Казахской ССР в мае 1961 г. при Госплане КазССР. На всех этапах своей деятельности Институт всегда был в авангарде экономической науки, на гребне актуальности.
Научная деятельность Института направлена на исследование ключевых проблем экономики республики и подготовку практических рекомендаций по их решению.
Новый этап развития Института начался в 1999 г., с момента его преобразования в республиканское государственное предприятие, что дало большую свободу в выборе заказчиков и партнеров по работе.
Главными задачами Института являются научное обеспечение хода реализации экономической стратегии страны, анализ состояния экономики и прогноз ее развития на перспективу, содействие устойчивому экономическому росту, повышению уровня и качества жизни населения. Институт активно участвует в разработке важнейших государственных программ и законопроектов, оценке экономической ситуации в стране.
The Institute of Economic Research was originated by the Government Decree of Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic in May, 1961 under Government plan of Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. During the whole period of its activity the Institute stayed on top of economic science.
Scientific work of the Institute is aimed at the research of the key issues concerning economy of the Republic and development of the practical recommendation regarding their solution.
When in 1999 the Institute was transformed into Republic government establishment that created a wide range of clients and partners a new stage of development of the Institute began.
The main tasks of the Institute include: scientific approval of providing a process of realization of economic strategy of the country, economic analysis and its forecast for development in perspective, support of stable economic growth, an increase of the level and life quality of the population. The Institute is actively taking part in the development of key governmental programs, juridical projects, evaluation of economic situation in the country.
