Edifice Building was founded in February 2011 to help the people of Christchurch, New Zealand, repair their homes after two earthquakes struck the city within a five-month span. Edifice Building began with two employees – both of whom were carpenters – but has since grown to include more than 40 staff members, as well as over 100 contractors.

In the two years since it launched, the company has repaired over 1,000 homes throughout the Christchurch area. The company has played such a prominent role in the city of Christchurch that it was recently awarded contracts on repairs exceeding $100,000 by one of New Zealand’s leading commercial construction companies Arrow International. Edifice currently averages 30 home repairs per month.

In addition to reconstructing homes, Edifice is also an active supporter of numerous charitable organizations throughout Christchurch. The company donated $10,000 to the Special Children’s Christmas Party of 2012, and also contributed $15,000 to the city’s yearly floral event known as the Festival of Flowers 2012.
