GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme GmbH turns vacuum systems and production machines into assets that explain themselves. By combining retrofit edge devices, a shared industrial data platform, and on-device AI, we deliver clear, actionable recommendations—"meaning instead of data".

Founded in 1999 as a spin-off of Fraunhofer IPA, GPS has been a wholly owned subsidiary of J. Schmalz Group since 2017. We support mid-sized manufacturing companies across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by digitalizing production and optimizing low-vacuum technology.

Core Solutions & Technology

Under our SICON brand, solutions are built on the FactoryDataHub—a unified data space using MQTT over TLS into an ISA-95 structured Unified Namespace (UNS), featuring a time-series history and an Asset Administration Shell (AAS) digital twin.

VacuumAI: Retrofit edge devices diagnosing vacuum systems on-site (leaks, filter clogs, pump wear). Delivers cross-manufacturer recommendations without vendor lock-in.

FactoryIQ: Insight layer for machine and assembly tracking, providing OEE, machine data, and energy monitoring.

IoLink Analytics: Diagnostic solutions leveraging existing data from smart field devices with no additional sensors required.

The GPS Difference

We prioritize data sovereignty, privacy, and security. Our AI analyses run directly on-device at high sampling rates; only processed features leave the hardware. We support cloud or fully on-premise deployments, aligning with NIS2 and the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). GPS also shapes industrial technology through publicly funded research projects like CampusOS, DaLion 4.0, IC4F, and SeRoNet.
