Green Access Taxi is dedicated to preserving our earth by utilizing state of the art technology in transportation initiatives by lowering the carbon footprint of taxi service in Greater Hartford.

We seek to change the availability of ON-Demand Transportation for the Disability Community of Greater Hartford, Connecticut. Green Access taxi provides Wheelchair-Accessible Taxi Service in Connecticut!

Green Access & parent company, The Yellow Cab Company of Greater Hartford have partnered expand wheelchair-accessible taxi service in the Greater Hartford region. These vehicles are purpose-built, paratransit compressed natural gas vehicles. They are made specifically to help lower carbon emissions, reduce our dependency on foreign oil and provide long overdue demand-response transportation for the mobility impaired community.

A key note: Wheelchair-accessible taxi cabs charge passengers the same rate as non-wheelchair-accessible taxi cabs!

-About: A Dedication to Green

In 1998, responding to urging from his children and the environmental lessons they were learning in school, Green Access parent company owner, Marco Henry and his The Yellow Cab Company, committed itself to “the preservation of the planet.” Under the direction of owner, Marco Henry, the first step was to begin replacing its 110-vehicle taxi fleet with compressed natural gas (CNG) burning units as a way to reduce carbon emissions.

On September 25, 1998, the first fleet of six dedicated natural gas Honda Civics took to the streets with positive public response. In January 1999, an additional 25 CNG-powered Honda Civics were added making one-third of the fleet virtually pollution free!

In 2010, Green Access was established to embrace the new technologies in transportation, with help from a Department of Energy grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Green Access will take the ambitious steps of replacing old inventory and adding new taxis to the fleet with 110 new CNG-powered vehicles which will go into service in 2011. Combining energy saving vehicles with a dedication to serve all residents of greater Hartford with 24/7, on-demand transportation is an initiative we are proud of at Green Access.
