Founded in 1926, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), a nonprofit association primarily for inspectors, focuses its comprehensive capabilities in the technical aspects of the plumbing and mechanical industries through its extensive knowledge base, which includes regulators, professional contractors, labor force, and manufacturers. The laboratory consists of a mechanical testing facility and an analytical/chemical testing facility to provide “one-stop” testing to various national and international standards, including AHAM, ASME, ANSI, ASSE, AS/NZS, ASTM, AWWA, CSA, CISPI, Federal Specification, IAPMO, MIL, MSS, NSF, PDI, SAE and others.

IAPMO R&T Lab is in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and is a National Recognized Testing Laboratory accredited by A-Class.

IAPMO R&T is North America’s premier plumbing and mechanical product certification agency adhering to established international codes and standards. It is accredited by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Since 1936, IAPMO R&T has provided building departments a listing of products that have earned the right to bear its marks of conformity.
