The word Karma – Action and Phala means Result. We believe in result of Action. Karamphala believes in Fair Trade. Paying fair prices to the artisans and producers from the different parts of villages of South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas. These two districts are rich in traditional handicrafters/Artisans who are engaged in making different types of handicrafts articles.

Karamphala a unique species of Mangroves in Sundarban National Park. We know the name of Sundari, Garan, Keora etc. but don’t know about the tree Karamphala. The color of this wood is red and grains are like the tiger’s stripes - a beautiful mimicry of nature. The beauty of this wood attracts the handcrafters of the surrounding areas of the sundarban. They made various types of wooden toys, spoons, bowls, photo frame etc. from the red karamphala which exported to international market. The exporters sent these items to Europe and USA and earned foreign currencies but the artisans are still in the same condition where they were before. At present they could not use this wood as these woods are banned. Many artisans have shifted to other substitute profession as a daily wage labour to earn their means. Some are still in this field and have changed the wood.

· Project Karamphala constitutes of these producers to support them from extinction.

· Arranged to substitute earnings like by making leather items. By this way to protect the mangrove forest.

· Train them to adapt themselves in new field.

· Arrange interest free loan as working capital to purchase raw materials.

· Provide Marketing Support of the products made by the artisans to sell in domestic market and abroad.
