INSPIRING SIMPLICITY

The layers of history and texture in old buildings are fascinating. It is that depth that I strive to translate into the environments I design.

I was raised in a house filled with art and antiques my parents collected from all over the world. Restoration.

From this, I developed early an appreciation for the unique, the well-made and the evocative, as well as the enriching abilities of different cultural heritages. Every piece in our home had its own history and a story how it came to live with us. Spaces that reflect that kind of cultural and personal history inspire me to this day.

I design interiors that are comfortable, healthy environments, that celebrate individuality, quality, and honest craftsmanship. The underlying principle that keeps a well-designed interior in concert is simplicity. Every element of the design must have its own right of existence, be it an item representing a special memory or the feeling evoked by a comfortable chair we love to sit and read in, or a sculpture or painting we keep coming back to -- discovering different aspects every time we look at it.

Creating the depth and richness of a truly lived-in environment, a home that reflects who we are, that also gives us room to breathe and grow, is the challenge and the goal of successful design.

The quality of material that goes into a piece is as important as the attention to detail going into design and execution.

It is my goal to create spaces that invite, both to gather and to retreat. Spaces with a natural flow, made with healthy and sustainable materials, spaces that are functional but keep inspiring us to live up to our wildest dreams.

I work with reclaimed materials, use antique and vintage furnishings, and cooperate with businesses and local craftsmen who have equally high standards.
