Research Institute for ICT, commonly known as ITRC for its previous title, "Iran's Telecommunication Research Center" is one of the most experienced research entities in ICT-related fields, with over 40 years of scientific experience in research. Acting as mother consultant to the Ministry of ICT, RIICT is the main government-supported ICT research base of Iran.

RIICT boasts highly experienced researchers who are skilled in various research areas pertaining to ICT and possesses advanced research facilities as well as dedicated laboratories. The R&D activities at RIICT are categorized under the following broad Faculties: Information Technology, Communication Technology, ICT Security, and ICT Policy Making and Strategic Management
