Today, STABILUS Australia assembles and supplies in excess of 1.2 million gas springs per annum from its Melbourne plant. The operation employs 35 people who are all committed to meeting our mission of providing outstanding customer service.

The product range consists of LIFT-O-MAT used to assist in lifting, lowering, moving and positioning, BLOC-O-LIFT for variable blocking position, STAB-O-MAT for height adjustable office swivel chairs, STAB-O-SHOC dampers used in dampening applications, DORSTOP used for variable holding positions of vehicle doors and POWERISE for automatic opening and closing of vehicle tailgates and deck lids.

STABILUS Pty Ltd is the largest gas spring (gas strut) company in Australia, assembling gas springs for a multitude of applications and markets. STABILUS Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of STABILUS GmbH Germany whose pioneering achievements include the introduction of the worlds first standard production gas spring in 1962.

Our presence in the Australian market originated in the seventies through direct importation from Germany. As the products gained in popularity the demand for LIFT-O-MAT gas springs (gas struts), especially in the automotive industry, became overwhelming. Consequently, and in line with our global corporate objectives of customer satisfaction and customer proximity, an assembly plant was set up in 1986 to supply gas springs to Australian industries.
