8’s overarching goal is to raise awareness about the link between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)/Sustainability and Development. With this 8 tries to encourage the achievement of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal #8: A Global Partnership for Development.

8 focuses on the role of businesses, NGOs, citizen movements and the public sector for reaching this goal. 8 believes that the way in which business can play an active role in the achievement of MDG 8 is by complying and implementing CSR standards. 8 sees CSR as a global tool in the fight against poverty. However, in the current trade dynamics, companies are not the only actors to be focused on. The interconnectedness of modern value and production chains with topics like development, fair living conditions, human rights, and environmental practices, has resulted in a world where citizens, NGOs, and the public sector are direct stakeholders and therefore play an important role in CSR as well.

8's aim is to raise awareness about the link between CSR/Sustainability and Development by blogging about interesting news, programs and projects, as well as by posting exciting videos and upcoming events within the field of CSR/Sustainability. With its dynamic campaigns, 8 tries to involve the private and public setor as well as other NGOs and citizens from around the world in order to establish new partnerships, which will function as knowledge sharing tool and which can help in the fight against poverty.
