LOOKING FOR COMMERCIALISATION OF FAST TRACK ALGAE BIO-DIESEL PRODUCTION THROUGH NANOTECHNOLOGY PATENTED IN USA IN 2011:

Our R & D team at National Center of Physics, University of Quad-e-Azam University, Islamabad has developed and patented in US new methodology by applying nanotechnology to Algae based biodiesel thus attracting interest of researchers as microalgae have greater capacity higher combustion efficiency, lower sulfur and aromatic contents, higher octane number, and higher biodegradability. Our Biodiesel Production is more feasible then that of best producing oil crops and cheaper source.. The algal oil and the vegetable oil, both have higher viscosity. Transesterification is one of the most common methods used to reduce oil viscosity. Several types of catalysts were used by us for transesterification reaction that may have alkaline materials, acidic materials, transition metal compounds, silicates and lipases etc.

Biodiesel production from jatropha oil by nanotechnology overcomes the challenges facing

 in the traditional technology. Benefits of production of biodiesel by nanotechnology includes

 commercial grade reagents instead of analytical grade reagents & reduction  of reaction time
