Anastasia Kochan

Passionate about optical materials, I completed a PhD focused on crystal growth, characterization, spectroscopy, and laser development for ~1 µm and 3 µm wavelengths. Alongside research, I mentored students, led lab tours, and was actively involved in academic life. I presented at numerous international conferences and received the Student Poster Award at the Advanced Solid-State Laser Conference for my work on rare-earth-doped crystals.

In 2016, I joined an exchange program at TU Dresden in the Nanoelectronic Systems Master’s program. This experience enhanced my technical skills, improved my academic English, and gave me valuable insight into international scientific collaboration. Living and studying in a new environment also fostered my adaptability and cultural awareness—qualities that continue to shape my personal and professional growth.

From the beginning of my Nanotechnology studies, I was actively involved in laboratory work and research projects, contributing to scientific publications and conference presentations. I also took part in student life as a committed member of the university’s triathlon, swimming, and athletics teams. My dedication to both academics and sports was recognized with multiple “Student of the Year” awards.

During my university years, I conducted research on the use of up-conversion excitation schemes to develop active media for the UV and VUV spectral ranges pumped by laser diodes. Alongside my academic work, I was actively involved in student life, participating in triathlon, swimming, and athletics teams — successfully balancing scientific focus with sports, discipline, and teamwork.
