Ansgar Koene

Post-doctoral Research Associate working on the EU FP6 ICEA project (Integrating Cognition Emotion and Autonomy) and the EU FP7 IM-CLeVeR project (Intrinsically Motivated - Cumulative Learning Versatile Robots)

At the National Taiwan University I worked with Prof. Chien-Chung Chen at the Psychology department where I performed psychophysics and fMRI experiments investigating human visual perception of size. I also co-supervised a PhD student working on a computational model of image contour integration in human perception.

I worked at the Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in the Humanoid Robotics and Computational Neuroscience group with Dr. Gordon Chang. My project (funded by NICT) focused on audio-visual guided eye+head gaze shift control of a humanoid robot for improving non-verbal communication between humans and robots.

I worked with Prof. Li. Zhaoping doing psychophysics experiments to test some key hypotheses from a model of human visual perception. The published results from this work are available from my web-site

During this time I worked with Prof. Alan Johnston at the Psychology department on a Human Frontiers funded project to investigate the interaction between audio and visual sensory perception.

I worked at the INSERM U534 "Espace et Action" in Lyon in the group of Dr. Denis Pelisson were I developed computational models of the neural control of eye movements. This work was done in collaboration with electrophysiologist (Dr. Laurent Goffart) and Clincal researcher (Dr. Caroline Tilikete).

My thesis "Eye mechanics and their implications for eye movement control" was done at the Helmholtz Institute, supervised by Prof. C.J. Erkelens. This work was a computational modelling study of the biomechanical and neural control properties of the human oculo-motor system.
