My client had a proposal from Google to cut costs by moving its Elasticsearch logs platform to GCP, so they hired me to do the project while addressing some technical debt in the process. As it was their first Cloud project, I had the duty of building things properly from the ground up, so it was not jeopardizing their future strategy. I defined the architecture, network topology, wrote the IaC, created the data pipelines, secured the cluster to Cloud standards, while keeping it 30% under budget.

The company had had a PMI process, and they were closing the remaining silos. In the Cloud team, there was a mix of technologies, and a new IaC was required. I designed and implemented a Terraform-based IaC framework covering the complex use case by layering, defining the stack model, the deployment stages, communication model, ownerships, and integrating it with the CI/CD pipelines as downstream flows. It managed to unify all the division's IaC in a single code base, enabling governance and collaboration.

I was appointed as Team Leader for a team of 7 Cloud Engineers. We managed the P1 business domain, that was recently created by joining teams from different companies after an M&A process. I acted as liaison with Product, Architecture, Engineering, Security and Platform teams, and lead several initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve compliance with Group requirements.
