Lectured subjects in the fields of Web computation, Bioinformatics and Multimedia. Carries out research activities in the fields of robotics, human-machine interaction, cloud computing and the Internet of Smart Things.

Co-founder of YDreams spin-off in robotics. Responsibilities: Business strategy and development, staff recruitment and leadership, technology roadmap definition, research and technical leadership, negotiation, project management leadership, finance, investments, Intellectual Property strategy. Developed the company’s business opportunities worldwide. Associate member of YDreams Board of Directors: financial reporting, joint strategic business decisions, and the exploitation of transversal business.

Lecturer of courses on Computer Networks, Security, Operating and Distributed Systems. Interdisciplinary research in Computer Networks, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, IoT. Technical lead and management of several research projects, and development of various industrial prototypes.

Headed the innovation and patent management processes at NSN Portugal. Led the innovationCircle board of innovation managers from each business unit. National patent manager, member of the Global Operating Patent Board. Member of NSN international Innovation Worktable team - new product and business ideas. Developed new business tools with COTEC for the Portuguese Industry. Led research team in Computer Networks. Responsible for the technical lead and management of several research projects.

As an expert in the Infotainment field, participated in international standardization activities (DVB CM-IPTV, specifying the commercial and technical requirements for IPTV (Internet Protocol TeleVision) solutions together with customer companies, partners and competitors.

Managed the innovation process at Siemens Portugal development center. Creation of new business from innovation projects as a member of the Carrier Innovation Networks Board. Developed strategies for know-how transfer from collaborations with universities. CMMi company’s certification in Portugal. Siemens Portugal IPR manager, and member of Siemens Global Operating Patent Board. Implemented a large number of activities to continuously improve the Development Centre innovation culture.

PhD minor (specialization program) in business management. Received PhD in Computer Science in 2004. Focus on robotics and artificial intelligence. Research at the humanoid robotics lab / CSAIL with Rodney Brooks. GPA: 5.0/5.0.

GPA: 5.0/5.0. Received the Rice-Cullimore Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers - awarded yearly for outstanding academic achievements.
