Building, implementing and operating Cyber Security Services for Industrial Environments and the IoT Starting his career as a kernel-level software developer, Bernd later designed highly specialized security solutions, build a SOC in London, was running a security consulting team conducting penetration tests, supporting public funded research project on Cloud Security, before becoming a Chief Information Security Architect. Development and deployment of a company wide security architecture framework and the related security architecture. Coordinating an international team of security architects and SMEs. Technical and scientific lead for the companies participation in a government aided research project to develop new metrics, methods and tools for measuring data protection compliance in Cloud environments.

Design and engineering security controls of infrastructure/tool-set to support Managed Service Solutions, influencing technology, systems and operations stakeholders. Give input to and support development of the technology roadmap. Responsibility as Technical Design Authority for Managed Services customer deals, ensuring compliance with strategy and approved technologies. Technology Research and White papers. Lead and manage new solution developments. Conducting Security audits and pentests.

Leading a pan-European team of senior security consultants. Providing business– and technical consultancy to customers and internally. Supporting the engineering department during security product or service development and implementation as well as being part of colt’s Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).

Member of the pan-European product development and architecture team, responsible for the technical development of security products and services. Technology research, security concepts and architecture consulting during the introduction and implementation of colt’s first own Cloud– and virtualisation infrastructure.

Building Colt’s European Security Operation Centre (SOC) in London. Technical lead for SOC system tuning (i.e. SIEM). Supporting the development of SOC processes. Train the SOC analysts and support the product and service development for the managed services based on the SOC. Design and implementation of protection infrastructure for customer networks and hosting environments. In 2005, team lead of a pan-European Security Competence Centre.
