Brenda Brizuela

As a faculty member I taught classes in biology, chaired graduate student committees and served as the major advisor for Masters and PhD students. I analyzed research data, wrote reports to the university annually, and published scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals and presented at local and national meetings.

As a Research Associate at UCLA I learned molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, DNA and RNA extractions, RTPCR, cell culture, and library screening. I also used automated analytical software applications to analyze my research data in order to identify and characterize novel gene sequences. I also have expertise in micromanipulation, ultra fine tissue dissection, microinjection and microscopy.

I was responsible for routinely planning, developing, implementing, and managing experiments and experimental protocols. Assisted the Senior Investigator in managing the laboratory and in ordering supplies and equipment. Trained in lab safety and required to ensure that all safety procedures relevant to research projects were applied. I developed strong interpersonal skills working as a lab technician manager to ensure that all personnel and resources were available for projects to be carried out.
