Charles Gielow

Minnesota high school student Charles Gielow is set to graduate in 2023 from Orono High School, where he currently holds a weighted GPA of 4.15 and has taken Advanced Placement and honors courses in math, science, and English. He participates in DECA, a competition that prepares students for careers in marketing and finance by asking students to prepare an international business plan and provide an interactive presentation to judges. Charles Gielow placed first in an MN District 7 competition and first in a MN statewide competition, and he competed in the international competition. His project focused on offshoring the manufacture of a labor-intensive heart valve, which aligned with his interest in biomedical engineering. Outside of high school, Charles Gielow has been playing the bass guitar since age 9. He has served as a music camp counselor for the School of Rock for two summers, where he assisted instruction for campers ages 5 through 12.
