Dr. Charlotte Debus

Department for High-Performance Computing, Institute of Simulation and Software Technology In my position as data scientist and machine learning expert I am working on the development and application of machine learning algorithms and data analytics methods for high performance computing systems. My work includes the acquisition of new project partners and the subsequent project conception and execution and the involvement in several software projects.

My project group "Radiomics in Radiation Oncology" worked on the topic of artificial intelligenz in radiotherapy. The group was part of of a Horizont 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actio. In that context I was also responsible for coordination of the grant application as well as recruiting and supervision of PhD candidates.

I investigated data analysis machine learning methods for improved characterization of brain tumors, with a special focus on design and implementation of software modules for medical imaging. I worked in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with colleagues and collaborators from different countries and subjects, such as mathematicians, engineers, biologists and medical doctors.

The topic of my thesis was the assessment of tumor physiology and prediction of progression patterns using multi-modal image analysis, in order to improve target delineation.
