I architected cloud data platforms for customers, including for a Swiss healthcare company where I leveraged serverless technologies for data processing. I also designed ML solutions, amongst them a bespoke Document AI solution for extracting data from complex paperwork. In conjunction with this I consulted customers on their adoption of cloud as part of their enterprise data strategy, acting as an SME for both technical and business personas to influence expectations up to the C-suite level.

I provided technical leadership on cloud migration and full DC exits for enterprises in many industries across Europe. This included management of stakeholders and influencing expectations up to the director/VP level. I designed landing zones to meet customers’ GRC requirements, including multi-cloud solutions, and advised on migration factories. I guided stakeholders at the technical and executive levels on cloud strategy topics, with cost optimisation and information security being major topics.

App Prescribed was a tele-medicine services for remote communities project in Roche. I volunteered to develop automation for deploying the proof-of-concept version on AWS. Working remotely with the app’s developer, I built automation for AWS Elastic Beanstalk and configuration of the app, delivered along with detailed documentation via GitHub.

Leading a team of 12 engineers, we built an OpenStack and GlusterFS public cloud across 6 data centres in Switzerland, from empty racks to customer available APIs. This cloud implemented US Food & Drug Administration “GxP” compliance, and the company achieved ISO 9001 certification.

During my time with Datalynx Group I worked on a number of consultancy projects for customers and internally within the company. Key projects included: • Operations of Novartis Pharmaceutical’s drug development HPC system • Project managing and deploying Datalynx Group’s invoicing and time management system • Managing the IT integration for a merge between two consultancy firms • Initiating the project that became Cloudlynx AG

Joining an established group I played an active role in a number of projects under the industry leading MODESIM initiative. I worked to maintain close relationships with our customers in order to understand their evolving requirements. This helped the team to achieve an "unprecedented" 98% customer satisfaction rating, which is one of the highest ratings ever achieved within Novartis globally. It also led to a nomination from the customers for an "Above and Beyond" award which I received in late 2010.

Adopting my first senior-level position, I worked as third and second line support for customers across the UK and in North America in addition to spearheading two upgrade projects. I also created and delivered technical trainings internally within the company, and assisted their junior staff with the efforts to develop their technical skills.

For a number of years I operated my own, small business while also in full time employment. Trading as “Pear IT”, I offered evening and weekend IT assistance services to private customers and small businesses across the north west of England.

After successfully passing vetting for UK Ministry of Defence SC security clearance and “learning the ropes” of Linux, Unix, and HPC, I undertook a number of projects to architect HPC clusters for large corporate clients. I conceived and championed a new design of hybrid Windows/Linux cluster, tailored to meet the strict security requirements of our main clientele. This design was exceptionally well received by early customers, and played a key role in substantially increasing HPC cluster sales.

Fresh from high school, I secured an apprenticeship at a local engineering company serving a dual role as both a CAD technician and first line IT support. In addition to these duties, I also completed the first full audit of the company’s IT systems, and using this data developed the first cost estimates for an upgrade to Windows XP.
