• Project focused on the role of Argonaute 2 in glucose and energy homeostasis • Research includes characterizing the metabolic phenotype of Ago2 knock-out mice in both wild type and obese backgrounds • Studies include in vitro approaches in using isolated primary hepatocytes and molecular biology techniques (western blotting, PCR, qPCR, microRNA assays) • Additionally, managed lab ordering and inventory

• Studied the function of aortic smooth muscle cells and their role in atherosclerosis • Research involved knocking down receptors (TLR2 and SR-BI) of the acute phase lipoprotein serum amyloid-A using siRNA and observing the effect on smooth muscle cell function with an eye towards atherosclerosis • Methods used included Knockdown experiments, as well as other various experiments, were analyzed by real time PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting

Completed my Masters with research topics in Cardiovascular disease in the lab of Barbara Schreiber, PhD. This was a dual degree BA/MA Program that integrated courses from the bachelors and the masters.
