Project and technical management responsibility for development procurement projects for the Eurofighter aircraft for the UK

JET (Joint European Torus) is the world’s largest experimental nuclear fusion reactor. In this placement I work with engineers and physicists in a range of departments in areas such as real time plasma control, diagnostics, heating and remote handling. I supported diagnostic investigations, delivering technical reports into the impact of the magnetic resonance of the test equipment.

Three month role after completion of second year of Avionics Masters degree. I worked within the Advanced Engineering department, involved with the concept design and testing of advanced flight deck technology for helicopters crew stations. In this position I was responsible supporting the research by developing an interface to enable navigational functionality to be supported in the flight deck demonstrator simulator.

Three month industry role after completion of first year of Avionics Masters degree; I was involved with development of a prototype medical physiotherapy machine, based on the companies 'active force feedback' technology. I was responsible for analysing the applicable international medical equipment safety standard, completing safety risk assessments and defining the systems requirements and safety procedures.

In this role I was responsible for bringing new product designs from demonstrated prototype through to production delivery; including tendering, selection and management of suppliers, configuration control and quality assurance. Reporting to the director of production.

Small defense contractor designing and manufacturing specialist equipment for bomb disposal (EOD and IEDD) and mine clearance, including ROVs, Detectors, and Distrupters. Employed in both Electronics Engineer / Engineering Management roles - responsible for full product life cycle from first concept R&D through to production/delivery to a wide international customer base. Richmond Electronics & Engineering LTD was sold to Chemring Group (http://www.chemringts.com/products/eod) in 2007
