Dr. Dalimir Orfanus

I was involved in establishing closer cooperation between UFRGS and UPB, especially in the field of distributed embedded systems and biologically inspired computing and methods.

I worked on the scientific project “Tools for acquisition, organization and maintenance of knowledge in an environment of heterogeneous information resources” (http://nazou.fiit.stuba.sk) which was cooperation research project between industry and several universities in Slovakia. Besides research activities I was also responsible for designing and programming of large scale information systems for big customers such as banks, governmental organizations and financial institutions on J2EE platform.

Administration and maintenance of middle-sized computer network for TA3 television (news television). Responsible for the main server farm and broadcasting servers.

Design, development and implementation of object/relational persistence framework in .NET and its application in projects for the customers.

I worked on the project ISILEIT (Integrative Specification of Distributed Control Systems for the Flexible Automated Manufacturing) founded by the founded by DFG, the German Science Foundation. My duty was to integrate several tools for modeling and specification of embedded systems, to create executable semantic models of modeling techniques, and to design and implement compiler of temporal logic for the model checker developed in the context of the project.

My main task was to create a functional prototype of a special communication device in the scope of one extensive telematics project for the Orange company, one of the local cell-phone services providers. The device, which I was responsible for, served as a central monitoring and control station. It was collecting data from sensors and diverse peripheral devices over a heterogeneous network as well as sending control commands to them.
